Type Certificate Issued for the E-175 EP5 E2

Certification body TÜV SÜD confirms compliance of ENERCON’s flagship turbine with the IECRE standard

ENERCON has received the final type certificate for its flagship turbine, the E-175 EP5 E2. Following the successful completion of the validation phase, certification body TÜV SÜD confirmed compliance with the international IECRE standard and officially handed over the certification documents.

“This is a major milestone in the international market launch of our flagship turbine,” says Timo Müller, Head of ENERCON Platform Management. “We can now provide E2 customers worldwide with all final approval-related documentation, making the planning and permitting of wind farms using our highest-yielding turbine significantly easier.”

“The handover by TÜV SÜD comes at exactly the right time for us,” Müller adds. “With the E-175 EP5 E2, we are currently entering new markets, such as Canada and Australia, both of which offer substantial potential for our flagship model.”

The E-175 EP5 E2 is also the optimal choice for operators in many other regions. Winner of the WindPower Monthly “Turbine of the Year 2025” award, the E-175 EP5 E2 is suitable for a wide range of site conditions. Combined with ENERCON’s innovative Hybrid Steel Towers (HST), available in various tower configurations and hub heights, it can be precisely tailored to local requirements, including IEC Wind Class IIA sites.

In addition, the E-175 EP5 E2 product range has been expanded with a 6 MW variant for both the international and German markets, enabling flexible deployment according to customer requirements. “For many operators, the E2 is therefore a key factor in optimizing their investment,” says Müller.

Strong customer demand has also made the flagship turbine an important driver of ENERCON’s business performance. “With this turbine type, we are once again at the forefront of the market,” says ENERCON CEO Udo Bauer. “We have a strong order intake and a stable order situation extending well into the coming years. Our order books are filled through 2028.”

Further E-175 EP5 E2 developments to be announced at WindEnergy Hamburg

With a rated power of 7.0 MW and a rotor diameter of 175 meters, the E-175 EP5 E2 is ENERCON’s highest-yielding turbine model. As the company’s most successful onshore turbine to date, it is also a central pillar of ENERCON’s market strategy and a core component of its solutions portfolio, enabling customers to successfully realize renewable energy projects.

Under the motto “Unfolding the value of green energy,” ENERCON will present itself at WindEnergy Hamburg (22 – 25 September) as a holistic solutions provider focused on increasing the profitability and value of wind energy and renewable energy projects throughout their entire lifecycle. For the exhibition, ENERCON is set to unveil further enhancements to the E-175 EP5 E2 aimed at unlocking additional energy yield potential. As Timo Müller explains: “We will demonstrate how operators can maximize returns with our flagship turbine through continuous operational optimization across the entire project lifecycle.”

At WindEnergy Hamburg, ENERCON will announce further developments for the E-175 EP5 E2 designed to unlock additional energy yield potential.
