ENERCON extends supplier partnership with Liebherr

Long-term agreement signed for the delivery of bearings and drives for wind turbines

ENERCON is entering a new phase of collaboration with supplier partner Liebherr. The agreement covers the delivery of bearings and drive components for ENERCON wind turbines – including the new flagship model E-175 EP5. The new agreement was signed at the end of 2025.

‘We rely on excellent and proven partners in our supplier relationships to ensure the highest quality standards for our customers,’ says Patrick Frings, Chief Procurement Officer at ENERCON. ‘We have enjoyed a close and cooperative partnership with Liebherr for decades and look forward to continuing this future-oriented collaboration in the long term.’

The partnership with Liebherr dates back to the 1990s. Liebherr components were already supplied for ENERCON’s first-generation wind turbines. Since then, the company has proven itself as a reliable development partner and series supplier. Liebherr also supported the E-175 EP5 project from early development through the prototype phase and will continue to supply key components for series production.

The E-175 EP5 is ENERCON’s new flagship model. With a rotor diameter of 175 meters and a rated power of up to 7.0 MW, it is among the highest yielding onshore wind turbines in Europe. This competitive turbine type is also a core element of ENERCON’s solution portfolio, which supports customers with integrated solutions for the green energy ecosystem. With these solutions, ENERCON provides answers to the complex requirements of the evolving energy system and delivers tangible added value for customer projects.

The expanded collaboration with Liebherr demonstrates how shared expertise and trust can enhance the performance, availability, and sustainability of next-generation onshore wind turbines and strengthen the European wind industry.
