ENERCON and JUWI sign new partnership agreement

Agreement on joint planning and implementation of onshore wind energy projects in Germany until 2030 signed at Husum Wind trade fair

ENERCON and renewable energy developer JUWI have entered into a partnership agreement for the development of wind energy projects in Germany. The agreement covers a substantial volume and has a term of three years. The contract was signed today at the Husum Wind trade fair (running until 19 September).

“We share a long-standing and strong partnership with JUWI, which we are now intensifying through this new agreement,” said ENERCON CCO Uli Schulze Südhoff at the signing ceremony. “We appreciate the trust, the constructive negotiations, and look forward to contributing together to Germany’s energy transition,” added Benjamin Seifert, Regional Head of ENERCON’s Central & Northern Europe (CNE) sales region.

“We are very pleased to continue our long-standing collaboration with one of the leading manufacturers of wind energy converters in a spirit of trust,” said Maximilian Nowak, Director of Corporate Supply Chain at JUWI GmbH. Since the JUWI Group was founded nearly 30 years ago, JUWI has installed over 500 ENERCON turbines in its projects worldwide, including more than 400 in Germany alone. “This new partnership agreement gives us momentum and planning certainty. It enables us to realise part of our extensive project pipeline in Germany, creating value here at home,” added JUWI Managing Director Christian Arnold.

The collaboration between JUWI and ENERCON dates back several decades. The first wind turbines were delivered by ENERCON to JUWI in 1996. The foundation for the new partnership agreement was laid last year through joint work on new wind farms: over the past 12 months, ENERCON and JUWI signed contracts for projects comprising 11 wind turbines with a total capacity of 61 MW across several wind farms in Germany, which are now entering the implementation phase. In parallel, the new partnership agreement was negotiated.

Ingenious product development as the basis for the company’s success

ENERCON achieved the technological breakthrough in the 1990s with the legendary E-40/500 kW. The gearless drive concept introduced for the first time with this wind turbine type still characterises ENERCON wind energy converters to this day. It also forms the basis for the new top-of-the-range model E-175 EP5 that ENERCON is currently rolling out in series production.
