Cooperation includes delivery, installation, and service of 100 wind turbines.
The developer and wind farm operator enercity Erneuerbare and the wind turbine manufacturer ENERCON have signed a partnership agreement for the supply, installation and service of onshore wind turbines. The contract is valid for two years and offers the option of extension. The project volume will be up to EUR 800 million and covers deliveries of around 100 wind turbines of different types. This was preceded by a tender placed on the market by enercity Erneuerbare, and a close cooperation between the two Lower Saxony's wind energy players already developed during the tender’s negotiation phase.
‘Ambitious growth and expansion targets can be realised even more efficiently with strong partners. With ENERCON, we ensure reliable access to high-quality technology within a contractually defined timeframe. In addition, both sides benefit from transparent pricing – this combination of quantity, time and price provides planning security for both sides,’ say Ralf Nietiet and Daniel Müller, Managing Directors of enercity Erneuerbare, a 100 percent subsidiary of the energy company enercity.
‘The wind energy market in Germany has picked up speed. The transfer of building permits to project implementation is increasing. The prerequisite for successful projects will be an early and agile cooperation between the project participants. The drafting of the contract in recent months and also the first projects in implementation show that we have found a very constructive level between the two companies. We are very pleased to supply enercity's projects and to shape the energy transition sustainably and together,’ says Benjamin Seifert, Regional Head Central & Northern Europe (CNE) at ENERCON.
More than 30 wind turbines will already be called up this year.
The partnership between the two players in the German onshore wind industry, based in East Frisia in Lower Saxony, is also a success for the North German regional economy. ‘Our partnership is a positive signal for the German wind industry and the regional economy. After all, wind energy creates added value – especially at our company, production and wind sites,’ explains Aurélie Alemany, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of enercity.
As a provider of integrated solutions for the connected Green Energy Ecosystem, ENERCON supports its customers in the realization of onshore wind energy projects. To fully unlock project potential, the company combines its high-performance, high-yield wind turbines with complementary solution components and services, enhancing customer benefits and the overall value of wind energy. As a pioneer in renewable energy with over 40 years of experience and a deep understanding of the demands of a changing energy system, ENERCON’s scope has always extended beyond mere wind turbines. With the mission ‘Energy for the World’, the company has been committed to sustainable energy generation from onshore wind since 1984. Thanks to its innovative turbine technology, high quality standards, and an installed total capacity of more than 65 gigawatts, ENERCON is among the world’s leading renewable energy companies.
With extensive expertise in the area of ‘holistic project development’, ‘connected operations’, and ‘smart optimization’, a dense service network, and a broad network of partners and service providers, ENERCON is a competent and reliable partner for its customers in all project phases. Headquartered in Aurich, Lower Saxony, the company employs around 13,000 people at administrative, sales, production, and service locations worldwide.
ENERCON will supply its customer Alterric with 13 units of the new E-175 EP5 E2 turbine type. The supply contract was signed this week at the Husum Wind trade fair. According to the agreement, ENERCON will install a total of 13 turbines of the new type at the Kutenholz wind farm (Germany) starting in spring 2026.
What has characterised ENERCON Service since the very beginning?
ENERCON achieved the technological breakthrough in the 1990s with the legendary E-40/500 kW. The gearless drive concept introduced for the first time with this wind turbine type still characterises ENERCON wind energy converters to this day. It also forms the basis for the new top-of-the-range model E-175 EP5 that ENERCON is currently rolling out in series production.
Following the successful fulfilment of the 750 MW turbine delivery agreements in the first phase, the companies have taken another step towards completing the 1,000 MW project by signing a delivery agreement for the remaining 250 MW capacity.
