E-175 EP5 E2 receives gold medal from Windpower Monthly

Renowned trade magazine honors top model in “Turbines of the Year Award”

ENERCON’s E‑175 EP5 E2 has received an important product award from Windpower Monthly. At the “Turbines of the Year Award 2025”, the renowned international industry publication awarded our top model Gold in the category onshore turbines 7.0 MW-plus. Silver went to Nordex’ N175/6.X, bronze to Vestas’ V172‑7.2 MW.

For the award, an expert jury assessed the best technologies introduced in the wind industry over the past year. As the E‑175 EP5 E2’s revolutionary feature—developed for large‑scale deployment of direct‑drive onshore wind turbine technology—the panel highlighted its distinctive disc‑shaped, split PM generator with a 10‑meter diameter in outer‑rotor design. The jury also emphasized the reduced magnet requirement and the efficient logistics and installation concept of the E2.

With a rotor diameter of 175 meters and a rated power of 7.0 MW, the E‑175 EP5 E2 ranks among the highest-yielding onshore wind turbines in Europe. The top model is also a central element of ENERCON’s portfolio, offering customers integrated solutions for the energy ecosystem. In doing so, ENERCON is addressing the complex requirements of the transforming energy system and enabling tangible added value for customer projects worldwide.
