ENERCON can boast success in another South East Asian country as part of its increased focus on international markets: the company is currently entering the market in Vietnam with two projects totalling 77 megawatts. “Over the past few months, we have been making careful preparations together with our customers for our launch in Vietnam”, says Steffen Brauns, Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific at ENERCON Sales International. “We are pleased that our plans to enter into the market with a total of 33 x E-103 EP2 wind energy converters in two projects are being put into place quickly. This gives us a basis from which to expand our activities in Vietnam – a country with very good prospects for onshore wind energy.”

ENERCON is supplying the E-103 EP2 wind turbines for the Mui Dinh and Trung Nam wind farms. Mui Dinh comprises 16 WECs and Trung Nam 17. The wind energy converters will be installed on tubular steel towers at a hub height of 85 metres. Vietnam is one of the countries in South East Asia with a growing demand for energy. This is down to the rapid economic growth, which in turn is leading to an increase in prosperity. “Renewable energies are a quick way to cover part of this energy demand”, says Steffen Brauns. That is why attention is turning to the renewables in Vietnam, where the aim is to develop wind energy resources in the next years.

ENERCON will expand its presence in Vietnam further. In addition to the registered office of the newly established ENERCON Vietnam Company Ltd. subsidiary in Ho Chin Min City, a Service station is currently being set up in the province of Ninh Thuan. At the same time, discussions on the next phases are already being held with the customers of the first projects. They would involve installing a total capacity of 152 MW. Wind energy converters from ENERCON’s new EP3 generation are already set to be given a chance in these phases.

ENERCON is currently focusing its efforts on international markets. This is the area in which the company sees the best prospects for growth at present. ENERCON has already installed over 14,000 wind energy converters outside of Germany, and is active in 45 countries. The newly developed EP3 wind turbine generation and the strategic cooperation with Dutch manufacturer Lagerwey open up new possibilities for ENERCON’s intensified internationalisation strategy.

These topics will also be a main focus of ENERCON’s presence at the leading international trade fair WindEnergy Hamburg (25 – 28 September, Hall A1, Stand 223).
