Foundation

The foundation is the link between the tower and the subsoil, and bears all static and dynamic loads of the wind turbine. ENERCON foundations always have an optimised circular form.

Advantages of ENERCON circular foundations:

• Forces are equal in all wind directions, whereas foundation pressure causing relatively high ground strain is possible on the corners of cross-shaped or polygonal foundations.
• The circular design has proven to reduce the size of the formwork area and the amount of reinforcement and concrete required, resulting in economically optimised cubing.
• Backfilling the foundation with soil from the excavation pit is included in the structural calculation as a load. This guarantees stability even with smaller diameters.
• To prevent the foundation from tilting, ENERCON always uses circular foundations. Different foundation types can be chosen as, depending on the site, the ground can only absorb a certain amount of load. This way, appropriate solutions can be provided at short notice for a multitude of construction projects. If required, further measures such as soil improvement or pile systems can be combined with the standard solutions.

This way, it is possible to start construction shortly after the building permit has been approved.
